La Palina Cigars officially announced today the release of the fourth La Palina Goldie Collection. The latest release, the Goldie Laguito Robusto Extra, will be the fourth release in the line, and like previous releases there will be two release. A total of 20,000 cigars/2,000 boxes are being released, and they will be released this summer and again in the fall.
The La Palina Goldie was first released in 2018 with the Laguito No. 2, and since then the line has been a true success. The cigars are rolled in Little Havana in Miami, Florida, and they are rolled at El Titan de Bronze by one roller. That roller is Maria Sierra, and she has been the only roller for the line since 2018. She began her career in Cuba at El Laguito, and has over 30 years of experience. The releases have gone back in forth over the years between smaller and larger ring gauges, and this year we will see a return of a larger ring gauge. Like previous releases, the boxes will be numbered and signed.
The Goldie Laguito Robusto Extra will be a toro by modern definition, and it will measure 6.1" with a 50 ring gauge. The cigar comes finished with a fantail cap, like all releases, and pricing is set at $18.00 a cigar or $180.00 for a box of ten. The blend is similar to previous year releases, and it revolves around an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, an Ecuadorian binder, and a filler blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco. All tobacco used is Medio Tiempo priming tobacco, and this is a scare priming to be found on tobacco plants.
The Goldie Collection has done well on Seth's Humidor over the years, finishing with an average rating of 93. The Laguito No. 2 was Seth's Humidor #1 Cigar of 2018, and the No. 5 was the #15 in 2019. The review of previous Goldies can be found below:
